Yahoo! News Gets A Fresh New Look

By Mike Kerns, Vice President, Product

The first thing that I do every morning and the last thing that I do every night is check the news. I’m not alone, as millions of you turn to Yahoo! News throughout the day to get your fix.

Today, Yahoo! News is unveiling a more personal, intuitive and modern design, and it may look familiar - this new design is one step towards creating a more consistent feel across Yahoo!.

The first thing that you’ll notice about the new Yahoo! News is that it was designed around your interests and preferences. We made the news stream customizable so you can tell us what content you’d like to see more of. Yahoo! News will get smarter over time - the more you use it when signed in with your Yahoo! ID, the more it learns about your preferences, creating a personal news hub just for you. And the new News is super fast, articles now load faster than before.

The new Yahoo! News is more intuitive, too. We’re placing the news front and center in the content stream, and made it easier to navigate news categories — such as Politics, Tech, Science — as well as find original and partner content, like ABC News.

You’ll also notice an improved design when you visit Yahoo! News on your iOS devices, and soon on your Android devices. We wanted to be sure you’re getting not only a familiar experience but the best experience whether you’re sitting at your desk or on-the-go.

Over the next couple of days, our U.S. users will begin to experience the redesigned Yahoo! News. Enjoy, and stay tuned for more from Yahoo!.
